Low Water cut-off valve Honeywell 601A vintage, NOS
If you are in the position of keeping that old boiler running, one of these days you might be in the market for a replacement low-water cutoff valve.
This valve we have for sale was made by Minneapolis-Honeywell in Wabash, Indiana, probably around 1940. ( The Installation Instructions that come with the valve are dated June 12, 1940.).
The boiler insertion type Lo-Water Cutoff is suitable for pressures up to 15 pounds per square inch. The mercury switch is actuated by a float which responds instantly to a hazardous drop in water level in a steam boiler and tilts a mercury switch to turn off the burner. The C601A model is equipped with a S.P.D.T. mercury switch (Series 60) which simultaneously turns off the burner and closes an alarm circuit.
