Welcome to a greener, cleaner future. . .
Styrofoamâ„¢ containers leach toxic benzene into any food or liquid it touches. Plastic bags pollute our land and kill wildlife. Both use petroleum as their primary ingredient and both can take decades (or longer) to break down. Why would you use either of these products if you had any choice in the matter?
Now you do…Trellis Earth products are the true biodegradable alternative to toxic Styrofoam containers and polyethylene plastic bags. But don't take our word for it; order one of our new Sample Packs. You'll be so amazed when you handle our products that you'll have to ask yourself "Is this really made from corn?" Yes, it is!
No matter how much we tell you about the benefits of our products, it just won't compare to how impressed you'll be when you actually handle our products. If you're intrigued by the possibility of switching your packaging to a more eco-friendly material but aren't ready to order a complete case, try ordering a Sample Pack or any of our partial carton items. After you have tested our packaging products, we're certain you'll see that Trellis Earthâ„¢ is the right choice for your business and/or your home.
One of the greatest banes of our modern world is the ubiquitous polyethylene, or plastic, bag. They're so popular that four our of every five bags handed out at grocery stores are plastic. These little plastic devils are rarely recycled and don't degrade in the natural environment, much less in a landfill.
And don't even think about using paper bags! In many ways, paper bags are even worse than plastic bags. Paper sacks generate 70 percent more air and 50 times more water pollutants than plastic bags. It takes 91 percent less energy to recycle a pound of plastic than it takes to recycle a pound of paper. And paper bags can't even be used in composting programs and don't decompose any faster than plastic bags once they end up in a landfill.
But, there is a third option. Trellis Earthâ„¢ biodegradable bioplastic bags are made from the highest quality corn polymers, starches and complimentary ingredients, for a completely earth-friendly solution. They can be disposed of with the knowledge that in the landfill they will naturally biodegrade with no toxic residues.

Our bags, bowls, spoons, knifes, forks, are not brittle, handles temperatures to 248 degrees F., and are biodegradable.
* Producing Bioplastic uses 65% less energy than conventional plastic.
* Producing Bioplastic generates 68% fewer greenhouse gases.
* Trellis Earth Products are good from the freezer to the microwave.
* Trellis Products perform better then pure PLA (which melts at 114 degrees F.), where Trellis products are good to 248 degrees F.
* Trellis Earth Products Inc. cost less than other traditional bioplastics.
* Trellis Earth Products have passed biodegradability & aerobic composting process: ASTM D 6954-99 & ISO 14855-1:2005(e).
* Trellis Earth Products uses Non-GMO (certified) corn
Bioplastics are degradable and in some cases, compostable, plastics derived from renewable raw materials such as starch (from corn, potato, or tapioca) or sugar cane fiber. Bioplastics are not hazardous in production and decompose in the environment when discarded.
Plastic bags and traditional plastic products require great amounts of energy and raw materials, such as natural gas, oil, and coal, to produce and recycle. Only approximately 1-3% of plastic bags are recycled, leaving millions of bags clogging our landfills, littering our neighborhoods, and killing our marine life. Additionally, plastics in our landfills will take hundreds of years to degrade and tax our environment by leaching dangerous toxins.
The time needed to degrade or compost bioplastics varies. However, all will ultimately either degrade naturally from microorganisms over time, or will break down to carbon dioxide, water, inorganic compounds, and biomass at a rate consistent with known compostable materials and leaves NO toxic residue.
What is unique about Trellis Earth products?
Trellis Earth is proud to be the premier provider of the most advanced bioplastic products available. Based on polylactic acid (PLA) technology, we have added PLA-related ingredients, resulting in greater heat and wear resistance than bioplastics made from pure PLA, sugar cane, or potato starch. In addition:
* Our products and raw materials require much less energy to harvest and process than paper, and introduce no poisons to the environment, such as bleach used to whiten paper (often discharged into streams).
* Our products are made with no toxic materials or processes, unlike petroleum-based plastics.
* Our bags are more environmentally friendly than paper bags which promote deforestation.
* Our products withstand temperatures up to 248 degrees Fahrenheit, meaning that hot foods can be served or microwaved in them, without leaching any toxins into your food.
Trellis Earth™ Products represent “Revolutionary Technology and New Pathways in Earth-friendly packaging solutions. By patronizing merchants using Trellis Earth™ products you are voting with your dollars to support Earth-Friendly organizations and companies committed to making a difference. Your purchases help promote new ways to solve pressing global problems. Trellis Earth products are not made like other plastics. They are made using PLA and other corn polymers and ingredients to create a 100% biodegradable answer to today's petrochemical problems.
1. Corn starch is converted to Dextrose. Bio-organisms convert the Dextrose into “Lactic Acid”.
2. Through distillation, molecular structures are produced. These structures bond to create long chains referred to as PLA (Polylactic Acid).
3. Trellis Earth mixes PLA with corn starch and other ingredients to make a heat-tolerant, fully biodegradable line of deli-ware, cutlery, and bags.
4. By using these products you support the drive to replace conventional energy sources used in plastics, including petroleum, with newer, more sustainable technologies that are Earth Friendly.
