High alloy material (Chrome, Molybdenum, Manganese) hardened to 60RC assures rigidity and long life of tool holder. The taper shank is ground to .00003" surface finish and has 90% surface taper contact with spindle, which provides high accuracy, rigidity and longer life for the machine spindle and cutting tool. All surfaces except ground surfaces are coated with anti-rust treatment.
Ultra-Precision New Baby Chucks and New Baby Collets feature an incredible accuracy of .0001". When used with symmetrical ground cutters, these Chucks and Collets are suitable for high-speed applications as their design minimizes the out-of-balance forces which are largely a result of eccentricity of clamping.
The exclusive design of the BIG New Baby Chuck System combines the ideal Collet taper angle with the perfect Collet projection and gripping lengths. This assures maximum rigidity, a powerful gripping force, a large collapsibility range and superior accuracy. Collets are double checked in the final stage of manufacturing to have a runout within 1 micron (.00004”) at the Collet nose and 3 microns (.00012”) at a distance from the nose of the Chuck that is four times the cutter diameter.
The Collet Nut and Adjusting Screw are included. The Collet Nut is designed with a 45° trapezoidal screw thread, offers less friction when clamping the Collet, thereby providing better balance through an automatic centering force. A patented double-rib design assures fast and easy insertion of the Collet as well as removal without extracting sleeves or fixtures. After mounting, the Collet will remain securely within the Nut and will not fall out by shaking. Most importantly, all Collet Nuts incorporate ball-thrust bearings which prevent tortional stress to the Collet, thereby allowing a smooth and even gripping force on the Collet.
